Edison winter estatesEdison en Ford winter estatesEdison en Ford estates

The Edison and Ford Winter Estates contain a historical museum and 17 acre (6.9 hectares) botanical garden on the adjacent sites of the winter homes of Thomas Alva Edison and Henry Ford beside the Caloosahatchee River in Fort Myers. It is located at 2350 McGregor Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida. It is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, including Sundays.
Edison's botanical garden contains more than a thousand varieties of plants from around the world, including African sausage trees and a 400-foot (120 m) banyan tree given by Harvey Firestone in 1925. It was originally an experimental garden for industrial products. Later Mrs. Edison gave the garden an aesthetic turn with plantings of roses, orchids and bromeliads.

Everglades Day Safari:

evergladesevergladeseverglades

This huge national park (nearly 600,000 ha) includes but is still one fifth of the overall Everglades area. It is a widespread river, moving slowly on a flat bed of peat-covered limestone, rarely more than 1 meter deep. This region has an incredible natural beauty with over 300 bird species, more than 600 fish species, many mammals and of course Florida's most famous resident the alligator. And the most memorable encounter is with a 'airboat'.
